We like to have the occasional "mixer" with the boys, and affectionately refer to their means of transport to these events as the "Meat Wagon." SINKCHARMER Paul and Jen's other band based on Paul's vast home-recording oeuvre--sweetly ramshackle electro-pop. SCRAPPLE As porny as they wanna be.

PLUNGE INTO DEATH Fake-art-goth-dance band with giant boom box, remote-controlled godzilla. THE TARDY Steph was in a rockin guitar/drum duo with Jef Czekaj. See also: Jef's "endearingly primitive" solo project. NICE AND EASY Steph also drummed for this girl group outta JP--now with the incomparable Keira of Mary Reillys! ASIAN BABE ALERT Garage rock duo with Leslie and Tom of the Anchormen--sometimes aka The White Flags.

WZBC, NEWTON Boston College's station is consistently great--the most interesting game in town. WMBR, CAMBRIDGE The MIT station is also fantastic. We esp. like Breakfast of Champions and Pipeline. WHRB, CAMBRIDGE Home of Record Hospital and various music Orgies.

WXYC, CHAPEL HILL WFMU, JERSEY CITY Perhaps hipper-than-thou, but these stations are so good, we'll keep listening to them online no matter how far away we move from the origin of their signals. BOSTON EMISSIONS The excellent local music show on WBCN, hosted by Shred. WMFO, MEDFORD This freeform station is refreshingly eclectic; sometimes inconsistent, but rarely dull. WHRW, BINGHAMTON 3 out of 4 Operators were music directors at this longtime freeform station.
